JOB PURPOSE: To support the management of product data for CMOPS and / or SAP based order configuration and price list systems. Price lists and product outline compatibility rules must be properly maintained to enable Caterpillar dealers to configure orders that can be efficiently processed, production scheduled, and shipped on time in order to meet our customer expectations.
JOB RELATED STATISTICS:
Order volume from Caterpillar dealers for machinery averages $25B per year. Delays in order processing delay cash flow of this revenue to Caterpillar.
JOB DUTIES: This is the entry level position to the order data analyst role at Caterpillar. The Order Data Analyst I manages less complex products. Less complex products have fewer possible configurations that can ordered, typically in the hundreds of possible configurations. And, less complex products are typically single rather than dual or multiple production sources. The entry level analyst will manage fewer sales model outlines as compared to more senior analysts. More complex products are managed by the more senior level Order Data Analyst II and / or Order Data Analyst III job roles.
Establishing and updating price lists for Caterpillar products.
The process includes loading and maintaining part numbers and descriptions in the Product Reference Database. The analyst designs layouts of price lists for all sales models under their control, and loads the attachments and descriptions into the Caterpillar Price List system while ensuring consistency and adherence to Caterpillar standards.
Establishing and maintaining compatibility logic for Caterpillar products and attachments.
The analyst creates a compatibility outline for all New Product Introduction product and maintains outlines for existing models. Product Outline Compatibility logic is critical to allow dealers to properly configure a product and place a grief free sales order to the factory for timely processing. Compatibility logic is written using proprietary Caterpillar systems and / or SAP based software.
Coordinating price list and compatibility activities.
The analyst works with Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Scheduling and other groups to compile information necessary to develop and maintain a price list that accurately reflects Caterpillar’s current offerings to our dealers and customers.
Participating on the Order Data and Support Team.
The analyst contributes to the consistency of price lists across products and regions by implementing standard work and process improvements as developed by the Orders Management Division. They participate towards improving quality metrics such as order grief reduction, response time, cost per order, as well as responding to voice of the dealer. The analyst also represents the Global Revenue Management Group as a Subject Matter Expert for compatibility and price list issues on 6 Sigma projects.
Must have analytical ability and initiative, be results oriented, and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Written and spoken fluency in English is a requirement, other languages are also an asset.
Four year college degree or equivalent experience concentrated in business administration, engineering, statistics, logistics, or related fields.
Knowledge of various Caterpillar products, product applications, and Caterpillar order management processes.
Knowledge of the engineering releasing process, product configuration process, manufacturing process and manufacturing engineering change control systems.
Ability to utilize a variety of computer software packages.
