Manager of Communications
The Manager of Communications will lead strategic communications planning, execution, and counsel to support the business objectives of Levy locations and partners in the field. This includes guiding PR and social media strategy, media relations, and digital content, as well as providing on-site event support and message coaching. This role will also support content development across Levy internal and external communications channels, and work with the communications team lead to support Levy global PR/thought leadership, internal, and digital strategy. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead strategic PR, digital, and social media planning and counsel for Levy locations and partners in the field * Work with regional and location leaders to develop annual communications objectives and core messages for media, guest, and stakeholder communications * Build relationship with business partners to align messages and priorities, and execute key communications activities * Write press releases, interview prep documents, and other essential communications assets * Prepare Levy spokespeople for interviews with talking points and individual coaching * Work with Levy's PR agency to pitch media stories, curate media lists, and compile reports * Travel to provide on-site support as needed * Develop content to support Levy brand internal and external communications strategy * Work with team members across disciplines to discover and share stories in support of annual company communications objectives * Write, edit, and organize visuals for social media, blog, and intranet posts * Provide light graphic and photo design and editing support as needed * Contribute to development of media pitches, global press releases, and other written materials as needed * Contribute to Marketing, Communications, and Creative Studio strategy and planning * Participate in planning sessions and contribute to development of global Marketing, Communications, and Creative Studio group objectives * Support communications team lead in development of annual company communications strategy, encompassing internal/corporate, external, and thought leadership COMPETENCIES Focusing on Clients & Consumers * Takes a proactive approach to customer and stakeholder relationships; maintains regular contact * Understand what is important to customers and stakeholders * Monitors trends in feedback to identify possible improvements * Work with others to ensure that client and consumer expectations are understood and exceeded * Recognize and reward excellence Developing Winning Teams * Effectively get things done through others with clear objectives and timescales * Tackle underperformance and hold people accountable * Provide timely and constructive feedback, coaching and training to help people improve Building Strong Relationships * Invest time understanding what is important to individuals or groups (e.g. clients, consumers, colleagues, suppliers) * Build rapport and use questioning and active listening skills to develop understanding * Use influencing skills and well thought out arguments to develop consensus * Adapt own interpersonal style to meet the needs of different individuals * Contribute ideas and opinions in a confident, straight forward way * Demonstrate courage and confidence to tackle difficult issues * Invest time understanding what is important to individuals or groups (e.g. clients, consumers, colleagues, suppliers) * Build rapport and use questioning and active listening skills to develop understanding * Use influencing skills and well thought out arguments to develop consensus * Adapt own interpersonal style to meet the needs of different individuals * Contribute ideas and opinions in a confident, straight forward way * Demonstrate courage and confidence to tackle difficult issues Seeing the Bigger Picture * Have a broad understanding of the medium-term strategy for Levy * Show passion and curiosity to understand changes or trends in the Sector or Function * Communicate the Sector/Function strategy to own team clearly and effectively * Understand the broad impact of medium-term strategies on day to day working * Help others to understand how they contribute to the achievement of strategy * Aligns ways of working to support the delivery of strategy Innovating & Improving * Encourages feedback and suggestions for improvement * Constructively challenge existing ways of working; aims to make things simpler and better * Implement change to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency Delivering Results * Is energized by challenging goals and targets * Use established formats or tools to interpret detailed business information for own area of responsibility * Make balanced business decisions within guidance and precedent * Manage budgets, working within defined procedures and authority levels * Manage activity to deliver a safe and compliant operation * Spot opportunities to improve efficiency and value for money in own area of responsibility Experience, Skills & Qualifications * 4-5 years of PR, communications, or marketing agency or in-house experience * Passionate about being the best storyteller, from discovering and shaping, to sharing the stories that move the company forward * Interested in sports, entertainment, or food/hospitality. Demonstrated experience in these areas a plus. * Energized by building relationships with team members across disciplines, partners, and other key stakeholders * Experience managing portfolio of clients with multiple and simultaneous communications priorities * Self-motivated, with strong organizational, account management, and writing skills * Familiarity with current and emerging social media platforms. * Experience in content development and/or community management a plus. * Driven by ROI and measurement, with familiarity and some experience using measurement tools * Led or contributed to media relations initiatives - built relationships with media, crafted story pitches, and drafted press releases and other story essentials * Regular reader/news watcher/media consumer Levy is an equal opportunity employer.
