Job Description:

To design, develop, and evaluate training programs, courses and assessments to meet the needs of dealer service personnel of Caterpillar products and solutions.

JOB DUTIES: The incumbent identifies training needs, designs, develops, evaluates, and prepares the training plan and provides guidance regarding course content, methods and media to be used, training aids, skill levels and attendance. Provides counsel and guidance regarding program development and training design for Caterpillar service training programs, such as New Product Introduction and systems service training.

  • Participates in the overall planning, designing, and development of job role competencies, curriculums, and assessments for a specific subject area. 

  • Assists in periodically analyzing existing maps and matrices to make recommendations to fill any gaps discovered.

  • Participates in curriculum innovation, design, and research, and ensures the development and maintenance of the highest quality learning programs for dealers and marketing personnel. Provides instructional design input for use of new learning outputs and technology. 

  • Reviews internally produced content and resources to ensure adherence to development standards and industry best practices. Reviews externally produced content and works with vendors to produce content. 

  • This position keeps abreast of training trends and available resources and makes recommendations on 'best value' programs. 

  • The incumbent acts as internal resource for the division on training issues; reviews training skills needed, determines, and selects appropriate media (video, reading, presenting, etc.) to meet identified requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Position requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university.

  • 8 plus years of job-related technical service training and instructional design experience.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background. 

  • Able to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.

  • Incumbent must possess superior human relation and communication skills. 

  • Business-to-business marketing experience is preferred.

  • Proven competency in launching and delivering multiple projects/programs. 

  • Ability to handle upper-level dealer and business unit contact. 

  • Thorough knowledge of company products and product applications. 

This position requires 10-25% travel.
