An industrial supplier in the Western Chicago suburbs is seeking a Buyer / Purchasing Agent to join their successful and growing company.

Job Requirements

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Identify needs of internal stakeholders and delivers appropriate communication internally and externally to meet the needs of operations
  • Collaborates with internal partners to communicate, influence and drive utilization of preferred suppliers
  • Monitor and plan accordingly to keep inventory at proper levels
  • Obtain quotes and evaluate suppliers based upon price, delivery, quality, communication, and service
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of raw material supplies and other supplies
  • Monitor, communicate, and hold suppliers accountable for performance expectations of quality, delivery and service
  • Use data to benchmark, undertake strategic analysis, and negotiate contracts for best price and cost savings
  • Identify, evaluate, and source new suppliers as needed
  • Review and revise purchasing procedures and processes for best practices and continuous improvement
  • Provide detailed analysis reports on suppliers and their performance including quality, delivery, and costs


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement or a related field is preferred; Associates Degree required
  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience required in industrial manufacturing
  • In-depth understanding and use of ERP system transactions as they were designed for different processes, work order types, and their impact on cost tracking
  • Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel
